SUMMARY:SIGN UP NOW!! DCNet's Mentoring / Issues Group Program
DESCRIPTION:Are you…\n* New to the political communications field?\n* Looking for ways to build your skills and advance your career? \nOr are you…\n* Someone with experience in political communications?\n* Interested in networking and helping to advance a colleague’s career?\n* Interested in broadening your management experience and people skills?\n* Interested in exploring the future of Democratic communications? \nDCNet’s Mentoring Program has been restructured to provide more opportunities for both seasoned Hill press veterans and new Hill staffers. \nMentors and mentees will be placed in small teams (2 mentors and 3 mentees) based on their interests\, Members’ committee assignments and region. The small team dynamic provides mentees more exposure to advanced professionals and gives mentors more flexibility. These relationships enable new communicators to quickly get up to speed on the various aspects of their jobs. \nMentoring teams will meet regularly for 4 months. Mentors will receive guidance on how to be an effective mentor\, as well as recognition of their service. An Advanced Mentoring Curriculum offers new staff specific skill-building opportunities and guidance. \nOver 120 House and Senate staffers participated in the previous mentoring session. \nAlso new this year is the launch of DCNet’s Issues Groups designed to help DCNet members build greater technical skills on a range of issues. Whether you are new to the political communications field or simply looking to broaden your skill set\, the Issues Group Program can help! \nCommunications professionals will be matched into groups that will focus on a specific skill or interest\, including: Social Media\, Building Your Press List/Media Relations\, Managing External/Internal Relationships\, and Crisis Management. The purpose of the Issues Groups is to allow members sufficient time to pick on one another’s brains on a specific issue and share best practices. There will be a group leader to facilitate the discussions. Members of each group will meet regularly over a 4-month period. \nWhile not limited only to those who join the group\, it is highly recommended that members indicate their interests. \nPlease sign up at: http://tinyurl.com/DCNet-Mentoring to participate in the Mentoring / Issues Group Program. Limited to current Hill Staff Only. All Veterans and new Staffers welcomed. Please respond by 4/23 (Mon).
